(UnitedVoice.com) – Michael Cohen was furloughed from prison in May because of COVID-19 concerns. However, he violated the terms of his home confinement and was sent right back to his cell. On Thursday, a federal judge ordered Trump’s former attorney to be released again back to his home.
Judge Alvin Hellerstein found that Cohen was put back into federal custody earlier this month in retaliation for a new tell-all book he’s writing. Hellerstein said Cohen wouldn’t agree to stop writing the book, and that’s what landed him back in prison.

Hellerstein decided moving Cohen from prison to home confinement and then back to prison was retaliatory. He said it violated his first amendment rights to publish a book. The judge also said Cohen had the right to discuss anything about the book online.
The exact terms of Cohen’s release agreement aren’t known, but as of Friday, he’s resting comfortably at home.
Hellerstein did put some limits on him. He said Cohen shouldn’t be able to have a press conference from his home, just like he wouldn’t be allowed to do that from prison. However, he’s free to post on social media.
