Migrants in ICE Detention Decrease Due to Alarming New Restrictions

(UnitedVoice.com) – When President Joe Biden took office he tried to implement a 100-day deportation moratorium but the courts shot him down. So, then he implemented new policies that limit which immigrants the agency is allowed to target. Republicans have said that the new president is crippling the agency and it seems new numbers support that.

According to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) data, as of May 3, ICE only has a little over 5,200 immigrants in custody. That’s just 28% of the number from May 2019 when there were more than 23,200 criminal aliens in custody. Breitbart reported that the numbers coincide with Biden’s lax immigration policies and order that prevent ICE from arresting many migrants.

ICE is supposed to arrest criminal aliens who are a danger to the country. With the crisis on the border raging out of control, we need these brave men and women more than ever. Unfortunately, the new president is playing politics with the country’s safety.
