President Trump announced on Sunday that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been killed during a raid by the US military.
Although the raid was successful thanks to all the military members involved, one, in particular, is getting a lot of attention. A military K9, whose name is not yet declassified, is responsible for keeping tabs on the ISIS leader.
Baghdadi attempted to escape by hiding in a network of underground tunnels. The military dog was able to follow him which allowed US forces to keep track of Baghdadi, who detonated a vest he was wearing, killing himself.
We have declassified a picture of the wonderful dog (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi! pic.twitter.com/PDMx9nZWvw

During Trump’s announcement, he made sure to acknowledge the dog’s part in the successful mission. Although the dog did receive injuries, he has already recovered and is back to work.
