(UnitedVoice.com) – It’s no secret there’s no love lost between former President Donald Trump and Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT). The lawmaker was the only GOP senator to vote to convict him of the Democratic impeachment charges against him during both trials. Still, with all of that history, the failed 2012 candidate knows Trump is the leader of his party.
On February 23, while attending the DealBook DC Policy Project, Romney was asked about Trump. He said he doesn’t know if the former president plans to run for the GOP primary in 2024, but the senator is “pretty sure [Trump] will win” if he does decide to go for the nomination.

Trump still enjoys a massive amount of support with GOP voters. A recent poll in Rolling Stone magazine found nearly half (46%) of Republican voters would leave if the 45th president started his own party. In the same poll, 76% of them said they would vote for him again. Trump is the most popular member of the party since former President Ronald Reagan — and Romney knows that. Now, it’s just a waiting game to see if the former president will run again and continue to further his America First agenda.
