Multiple Chinese Cities Under COVID Lockdown Ahead of Winter Olympics in Beijing

(UnitedVoice.com) – The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) likes to make a big deal of how effective the regime’s anti-COVID measures have been – but if they’re so great, why have 14 million Chinese citizens just had a draconian full lockdown reimposed on them?

China is due to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, starting in just four weeks. The regime claims to have strong policies in place to protect athletes and spectators from the virus, and the World Health Organization, which is notoriously pro-China, is backing up those claims, but the reality is that two Chinese cities have now been put back under total lockdown. Both cities, Yuzhou and Zhengzhou, are in Henan Province, just to the north of Hubei Province – where the pandemic started in 2019.

So far, all businesses and public services in the affected cities have been closed. All residents have been under effective house arrest, and the local government is struggling to deliver food to them all.

The question now is, if China can’t even protect its own population against COVID without shutting down whole cities and confining millions of people to their homes, how can they protect athletes and spectators at an international event? COVID spread globally because the Chinese regime claimed there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission and let millions of people fly in and out of the country. Can we rely on them to get it right this time?
