(UnitedVoice.com) – On May 25, 2020, George Floyd died after a confrontation with police officers. On Tuesday, April 20, one of the officers involved, Derek Chauvin, was found guilty of killing him. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wasted no time commenting on the verdict after it was read and her remarks have led to calls for her resignation.
The Democratic congresswoman thanked Floyd for giving his life “for justice.” She claimed his death will “always be synonymous with justice” because of the guilty verdict.

Her statement caused outrage online. She acted as if Floyd died on purpose just to put a former police officer in prison. Both Liberals and Conservatives were appalled by her remarks. The Kansas Green Party called on her to resign on Twitter. So did others.

The Speaker’s comments made absolutely no sense. Floyd would undoubtedly much rather be alive. Nobody wants to die at someone else’s hands, no matter what their life was like before their death. It’s no wonder people want her to resign.
