New House Resolution Could Expunge Impeachment Against Trump

New Vote Could Vindicate Trump – Congress in Shock!

(UnitedVoice.com) – On January 13, 2021, the House of Representatives impeached then-President Donald Trump for the second time. Lawmakers accused him of inciting an insurrection against the US on January 6. Although the Senate later acquitted him, it remains a stain on his record. Now, a group of Conservatives is trying to expunge the second impeachment from the former president’s record.

House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and almost 30 other Republicans are pushing a resolution to expunge Trump’s record of the second impeachment. The New York congresswoman said it was a “political witch hunt from Nancy Pelosi” and demanded its removal.

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is the original sponsor of the resolution, which is similar to another resolution the congressman introduced after the first impeachment to have that expunged from Trump’s record. According to Fox News, like Stefanik, the congressman believes Democrats used the 2021 impeachment to “weaponize” one of the House of Representative’s “most grave and consequential powers.”

Currently, Democrats are in charge of the House, so there’s little chance of the resolution ever making it to the House floor, let alone passing. But it proves Trump still has many allies on Capitol Hill, and they’re willing to fight for him.
