(UnitedVoice.com) – In 2018, a wave of far-left firebrands known as “the squad” got elected to Congress and changed the dynamics of American politics. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) put their spin on far-left policies and dramatically moved the Democratic Party left in favor of socialism. As a result, conservative women won elections in droves across America in the 2020 election.
Nicole Malliotakis was one of those women. She is a former New York City Assembly Member and now a Congresswoman-elect. She will be the only Republican representing New York City in Congress when she takes office in January. She defeated first-term Democrat Rep. Max Rose 58% to 42% during in-person voting on election day. Facing an insurmountable lead, Rose conceded.
Malliotakis is a conservative voter’s dream candidate. She is articulate, experienced, and highly informed on how conservative policies can best help America. She ran head-on and unapologetically against far-left policies, including the defund the police movement supported by the Squad and her former opponent. She argues unabated Democratic policies are creating a lack of balance in communities across New York City and the nation. She stresses that the lack of counterviews hurt the people in her community as officials strip people of their Constitutional rights and liberties.
Malliotakis Denounces the Squad
The daughter of a Cuban immigrant, Malliotakis said Cuban-Americans know more than anyone the consequences of socialism and communism. As a result, she said there could be an anti-socialist squad forming in Washington, D.C., in response to the movement created by the liberal far-left squad.
Like many from the small island nation, Malliotakis still has family in Cuba. Throughout the campaign, she said she was very familiar with the challenges of living under an oppressive regime. Malliotakis stressed that America needs to embrace freedom and democracy and shouldn’t be running to socialism.
On Twitter, Malliotakis responded to a post by media strategist Gabriella Hoffman:

Conservatism Is Possible Even in New York City
In addition to the defund the police issue, the Congresswoman-elect said she is pursuing conservative policies that would reduce taxes, rebuild the economy after the economic devastation of COVID-19, and keep the conservative promises she made on the campaign trail.
If Malliotakis is to be believed, a new coalition of conservatives could rise to compete with the “squad” in a new Congress.
For conservatives looking for hope, there is plenty to be found in the 2020 election despite the challenges of the presidential election.
