(UnitedVoice.com) – Cable news has become increasingly partisan over the last two decades. The networks are now mere echo chambers for people with extreme confirmation biases. MSNBC is one of the worst offenders and now one of its news anchors is leaving for that reason.
Kendis Gibson, who has worked for MSNBC since 2019, decided to jump ship and join CBS Miami station WFOR. While at the network, he often appeared on the weekends, anchoring MSNBC Live with Kendis Gibson and the Kendis Gibson and Lindsey Reiser Report. He spoke to Variety about his move, saying he wanted to get away from the “hyper-partisan 24/7 political news space.” He took the job at the local Florida station because he said it covers all of the news, including entertainment and human interest stories.

Gibson isn’t the only MSNBC employee to quit in recent years. In August 2020, journalist/editor Ariana Pekary quit the network and before she left, she wrote a letter explaining its failures. She said the journalists who work at the network are good but they “make bad decisions on a daily basis.” Pekary explained the network amplifies fringe voices because it drives ratings and that’s what’s most important these days. She called it a “cancer.”
