(UnitedVoice.com) – New York’s Democrat governor is under growing pressure to resign after an investigation found he had sexually harassed almost a dozen women. Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) was clinging to his job on Tuesday night, but he’s running out of friends fast – and could even face criminal charges.

On August 3, New York Attorney General Letitia James released the final report on her investigation into Governor Cuomo, and its conclusions were damning. The 165-page document outlined a toxic work environment created by Cuomo and his aides – an environment in which sexual harassment could, and did, run wild. James found that over his three terms in office Cuomo had victimized employees “in violation of both state and federal law,” subjecting them to abuse that included unwanted touching and inappropriate comments. She said Cuomo’s behavior “corrodes the very fabric and character of our state government.”
At a Tuesday press conference, Cuomo claimed his behavior had been “misconstrued,” and said he’s “just a touchy-feely person.” So far, he’s refusing to resign. However, fellow Democrats are rapidly backing away from him as the immensity of the scandal sinks in, and even President Biden has conceded that Cuomo needs to go.
Meanwhile, the District Attorney in Albany has jurisdiction, and criminal charges from that office could be forthcoming.
