Piano Teacher Guilty of Abuse, Faces 111 Years in Prison

(UnitedVoice.com) – In 2014, California police arrested John Mordecai Scott, now 65, on suspicion of showing inappropriate photos to a student. The piano teacher also took photos of the child who was under the age of 14. Police soon uncovered more crimes and now a jury has finally handed down a verdict in the case.

On March 14, an Orange County jury found Scott guilty of molesting eight girls over a period of 20 years. The jurors determined he was guilty of committing lewd acts on a child, using a minor for sex acts, continuous abuse and more than 20 other charges. He reportedly committed the acts in his home where he gave piano lessons to children. He’s facing 111 years in prison for the crimes.

According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, the first documented case of his crime against a child was in 1996, while Scott worked in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. He allegedly touched a child inappropriately on her chest and other intimate places. He threatened the girl and she stayed quiet for eight years. Prosecutors say he abused girls as young as 5 years old. Scott’s sentencing is scheduled for May 13, 2022.
