Police Ambushed By Armed Gunman
(UnitedVoice.com) – Three Oklahoma cops narrowly escaped last month after an armed fugitive ambushed them from an unexpected hiding place. The officers were searching for a man with an outstanding felony warrant. When they found him, he began shooting.
Around 10:25 p.m. on November 15, Oklahoma City Police Department received a sighting report for Timothy “Sammy” Johnson, who had an out-of-state felony warrant against him. According to the report, an informant saw the suspect entering a trailer on Iron Road, and the witness believed he was still in there. Arriving at the trailer, three officers spoke to the occupant, Jennifer Garner. Garner told them nobody else was in the trailer and gave them permission to search it, so the team entered and began a sweep.

At first, they saw no trace of Johnson, but then one of them found a bed with a storage area underneath. Lifting the mattress revealed the suspect with a gun in his hand. As soon as the officers removed his concealment, Johnson immediately opened fire on them. The cops fired back as they withdrew from the trailer, and there was another exchange of shots. Debris kicked up by a bullet wounded one officer in the face; when the OKCPD tactical unit responded to the scene, they found the suspect dead inside the trailer.
Police arrested Garner for harboring a fugitive. She knew Johnson was in the trailer and armed but lied to the cops, putting their lives in danger. Luckily none of them sustained serious injuries.
