Hanging BODY Found – Details Released!
(UnitedVoice.com) – LA residents were shocked this week when a passerby found a body in a city park. The corpse was hanging from a tree and on fire. Despite the circumstances, police say there’s no sign of foul play.
Around 12:30 p.m. on August 9, a passerby found a woman’s body, suspended from a tree and burning, near the merry-go-round in Los Angeles’s Griffith Park. Bystanders called firefighters at 12:38 p.m. After putting out the fire, emergency personnel confirmed the woman was dead. Now, according to Los Angeles Daily News, LA Police Department (LAPD) spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said they’re treating the death as an apparent suicide.
“The detective said the body might be of a “local transient.”

While this seems like a bizarre way to commit suicide, Detective Michael Ventura of the LAPD said the method is rare but not unknown. He told ABC7 Eyewitness News, “We do have cases where people… choose to set themselves on fire.” Police have found no signs that the death is suspicious. Investigators now believe the woman was a local transient who allegedly regularly spent time at the park.
Self-immolation — deliberately setting yourself on fire — is a rare suicide method. Compared to more common techniques, it’s both slow and excruciatingly painful. Most people who opt for self-immolation do it publicly as an act of protest. It certainly isn’t something you expect to see in a popular city park.
