(UnitedVoice.com) – As governors extend lockdown orders across the country, more police officers are beginning to question their authority. Citing Constitutional rights, some flat-out refuse to enforce the stay-at-home mandates anymore. One officer even took to Twitter to remind officers of what their duty is, which, paraphrased, is not to blindly follow orders.
Message to police officers:
"You need to stand up for what's right…You don't get to trample on people's liberty…you are going to wake a sleeping giant…If we all stand up together…people & law enforcement will be united like we should be"

In fact, the officer in the video doesn’t just suggest officers stand down, but encourage others to do the same.
The conflict is that stay-at-home orders are in direct opposition to the Constitution. In fact, deprivation of rights under color of law makes it a criminal act to deprive a person of their Constitutional rights. The confusion lies in the fact that police are following governor orders, which are not the same as laws.
In any case, the Constitution was deliberately written in such a way that it supersedes any other laws or orders that might be given. Violation of the deprivation of rights under color of law carries penalties ranging from fines to life imprisonment.
UPDATE: The officer has been placed on administrative leave pending termination for not taking the video down.
