(UnitedVoice.com) – A federal judge recently delayed Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial until the fall. The British socialite is accused of aiding deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in his sex trafficking ring. Prosecutors are now defending their decision to ensure that she makes it to her trial date.
A Manhattan federal judge granted Ghislaine Maxwell’s request to postpone her trial in light of a second superseding indictment, filed in late March, which added a fourth minor victim to her case https://t.co/4uk0JDossN

On Wednesday, May 5, federal prosecutors told a judge that the increased security around Maxwell is necessary. The guards check on her every 15 minutes at night while she is sleeping to make sure she is okay. David Oscar Markus, her attorney, said that waking her up every 15 minutes is “positively Orwellian.” He wondered what would be next, forcing her to eat “bread and water” to stop her from getting diabetes?
It’s the government’s job to make sure prisoners stay safe. Epstein did not receive the same protections, and he was allegedly able to hang himself before he went to trial. The prosecutors are rightly trying to prevent a repeat of that incident.
