Putin Claims He's Pulling Troops Back

(UnitedVoice.com) – On Monday, February 14, reports indicated Russian President Vladimir Putin was accelerating the troop buildup on the border of Ukraine. Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby accused Putin of adding more military equipment and troops to the border. Just a day later, the former KGB spy claimed he was calling some troops back.

Russian officials claim some of their troops have returned to their bases after conducting military exercises near the Ukrainian border. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the US is fueling the crisis in Eastern Europe by repeatedly claiming his nation will invade. He went on to say the plan was always to remove troops when they finished their alleged exercises. The Russian Ministry of Defence [sic] released video footage showing heavy military equipment loaded onto rail cars.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “February 12, 2022 will go down in history as the day Western war propaganda failed.” She claimed Western countries have suffered humiliation and been destroyed without Russia ever firing any bullets.

President Joe Biden addressed the Russian comments, saying he hasn’t verified the withdrawal.

During an impassioned speech on Tuesday, Biden warned Putin against attacking Ukraine saying his country would face severe economic sanctions if he did.
