Putin Offers Congress Inside Info

The last few days have been some of the new POTUS’s worst since he stepped into office. With many condemning him for the move to release sensitive intelligence about ISIS to Russia, calls for impeachment and even downright criminal charges are rising from the ranks of dissenters all across the country.
Trump and his media team, however, refute that the decision was poor, instead asserting that they released the information to secure Russia’s backup in the fight against terrorism.
After the last few days increased public tension, Putin called the drama “political schizophrenia.” While crass, the statement is fairly representative of the current political climate in America. Trump has inspired the most back-and-forth tug-of-war from both Republicans and Democrats, rarely spending more than a day or two before angering or inspiring someone new.
Putin also offered to put the problem to rest by releasing the details of the information Trump released to Russia during an interview with the Italian Prime minister. He seemed relatively unaffected by the claims, though unaffected often seems to be the Russian leader’s specialty. He even cracked jokes about Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, saying that if secrets had been shared, they certainly hadn’t been shared with Russia.
When the public demanded a response and explanation from the POTUS, he responded.
“As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety.”
The POTUS is, in fact, correct; he maintains the right to release classified information as he sees fit. Whether or not the decision was wise, of course, remains to be seen.
