(UnitedVoice.com) – Russia has been at war for almost a year, stretching its military resources thin. Nonetheless, the country has continued to develop deadly weapons. Russian news is now reporting President Vladimir Putin’s Poseidon drones are complete.
Russia’s Deadly Nuclear Drones
On January 15, Russian news agency TASS reported an unnamed source revealed the completion of the first order of Poseidon nuclear-capable drones. The military could use the drones underwater, creating a devastating impact on coastlines.
The news outlet revealed the manufacturer would soon deliver the drones to the “special-purpose nuclear-powered submarine Belgorod,” the submarine called the “Doomsday Sub” because it carries bus-sized nuclear-capable missiles. Architects designed the vessel, referred to as Project 09852, to carry out a number of research tasks, and it can also carry uncrewed, submersible vehicles to conduct deep-water rescues.
Designers allege the Poseidon drone could create a tsunami as tall as 1,640 feet. Unnamed Russian officials have reportedly said the drone has an unlimited range, traveling at 125 mph until it meets its target.
Russian Threats
According to the Daily Mail, Retired General Andrey Gurulev is calling for Russia to use the weapons to destroy Britain. He claimed the country deserves to get “demolished from the face of the Earth” because it has agreed to supply Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks. He claimed Putin’s military would be victorious in the war if it weren’t for the British government’s interference.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s decision to send the tanks to Ukraine marked an escalation. The Challenger 2 tanks represent the first Western-made tanks sent to the country. The US is sending Bradley Fighting Vehicles to the war-torn eastern European nation as well.
Russian officials have recently threatened the US, too. In December, Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, was furious about President Joe Biden’s administration agreeing to send Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine. She said the decision “would lead to an escalation of the conflict” and claimed it would “increase the risk of direct” US involvement in the war.
Not one to stand down when threatened, the US went through with the deal. American troops will soon begin training Ukrainian troops on using the missile defense system and other battlefield skills at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The foreign soldiers traveled to America for the training to keep US troops out of Ukraine. Still, the decision further embroiled the US in the conflict between the two nations. Roughly 100 Ukrainian troops will take part in the training.
