Recalls: Cottage Cheese, Cat Food and Ground Beef

Cottage Cheese

Kraft Heinz Foods, the parent company of Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese, has announced a recall of the product after a consumer found a piece of plastic in their container.

The products involved in the recall are 24-oz Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese, 24-oz Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese and 16-oz Breakstone’s 2% Milkfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese.

So far there have been six complaints but no injuries. Consumers are asked to return the product to the place of purchase for an exchange or refund.

Cat Food

GoRaw LLC has recalled their 2-pound bags of frozen Quest Beef Cat Food after a sample test came up positive for salmonella.

The bags of Quest Beef Cat Food were sold nationwide at independent pet stores. The company is asking for the bags to be returned to the stores they were purchased from for a full refund. They are also encouraging customers who have any questions to call them at 801-432-7478.

Ground Beef

Central Valley Meat Co., has issued a recall for 34,222 pounds of ground beef that might be contaminated with Salmonella Dublin, a more worrisome form of the bacteria.

TEST

The items included in the recall have EST. 6063A printed on the labels next to the lot number. The packages, which include 1-lb, 2-lb and 20-lb cases, were sold to various retail locations in California.

The salmonella was discovered after the CDC and other state and public health agencies noticed an illness cluster of salmonella poisoning.

All the packages sold have a use-by date of 08/14/2019, and it’s no longer being sold, but there’s a concern that people could still have some of the meat in their freezers. If you do, you are urged to throw it away or return it for a refund.
