Refund the Police in Full Swing in Major Cities

(UnitedVoice.com) – More than 20 major cities in America have reduced their law enforcement budgets in the wake of the defund the police movement. Some of those cities are now realizing they actually need officers to keep their cities safe.

According to a May 25 report by The Daily Wire, cities that defunded the police over the last year are now refunding the departments. The decisions to increase budgets came after a rise in crime in some of those very cities. For instance, NYC reduced its police budget by $1 billion and then saw violent crimes jump. Minneapolis and LA are also experiencing a rise in crime.

In February, both NYC and Minneapolis both announced they would be increasing their police budgets. In May, the LA City Council also reversed course, announcing it was giving the LAPD additional money to hire 250 police officers. It looks like liberal city leaders have realized that diverting funds away from cops isn’t great for public safety. Who would have thought?
