The Democratic staff counsel of the House Intelligence Committee was criticized during a hearing on Monday after Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee said he was making faces and signaling with his words.
What was he signaling? That the US Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, won the position because he was a donor.
Rep. Doug Collins from Georgia said he noticed that Intelligence staff counsel Daniel Goldman had made several negative facial expressions when he was talking about Sondland donating $1 million to the Trump Inaugural Committee.
Collins warned Goldman, “Be very careful about how you throw around dollars and giving,” adding that Goldman himself was a donor to the Democratic Party.
The Representative from Georgia also called out Goldman for showing up to testify instead of Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. Goldman got snippy and asked Collins what he was implying after Collins said “We already are not answering questions, and you are here without a pin because your chairman will not testify; that says all we need to hear. He doesn’t even stand behind his own report, he sends you.”
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to Daniel Goldman: "We want Schiff in that chair, not you. The implication is that the person that wrote the report is the person that should come and present it. You weren't elected by anybody and you're here giving testimony in place of the chairman." pic.twitter.com/S4jgfvrGaE

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) decided to make it crystal clear for the Intelligence staff counsel.
“The implication is we want Schiff in that chair and not you. The implication is the person that wrote the report is the person who should come and present it, and you weren’t elected by anybody, and you’re the one giving this testimony in place of the chairman. I hope that clears up the implication.”
Republicans have asked Schiff to testify multiple times and he continues to ignore their requests.
