Russian Propaganda May Foreshadow Use of Chemical Weapons

(UnitedVoice.com) – On Friday, March 11, Russia called a special session of the United Nations to address alleged concerns about the United States operating biochemical weapons labs in Ukraine. The US and its allies vehemently denied the allegations. Not only was Russia accused of lying, but America believes the nation is doing more than allegedly spreading propaganda.

During the UN Security Council meeting, the United States’ UN Ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, accused Russia of possibly preparing to launch its own chemical attack on the Ukrainians. Press Secretary Jen Psaki spoke about the accusations on Wednesday, she tweeted that Russia has a “track record of accusing the West of the very violations” it was committing itself.

President Joe Biden said Russia would pay a “severe price” if it launched a chemical attack on Ukraine; Psaki reiterated that price would not include sending troops in to fight.

The use of chemical weapons has been illegal since the 1925 Geneva Protocol. The United States says it’s in full compliance. However, Russia has been accused of using the weapons to kill enemies of the state and supporting other regimes, like Syria’s Bashar al-Assad.

Do you believe Russia’s accusations are a foreshadowing of its own intentions?
