(UnitedVoice.com) – A prominent Republican has criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his attacks on President Trump following Saturday’s historic acquittal vote. McConnell joined most of his Republican colleagues in voting against the politically-motivated charges – but then outraged Trump’s supporters with a bitter rant.

Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC), talking to Fox News on Sunday, condemned McConnell’s decision to blame Trump for the January 6 Capitol riot. He said when GOP candidates fight to take back control of the Senate in 2022, they’re going to have McConnell’s words thrown in their face – potentially making it more difficult to win vital races. Graham jabbed that while McConnell had “got a load off his chest,” he’d also “put a load on the back of Republicans.”
Taking a much more upbeat approach than the petulant McConnell, Graham said he’s spoken to Trump since Saturday night’s vote and the 45th president is “excited about 2022.” The senator continued with a warning that the impeachment process set a dangerous precedent for democracy.
