(UnitedVoice.com) – Far-Left Democrats have been pushing for a bill to cancel rent around the country. They’ve sold it as a way to help working families get through the pandemic. However, while one of the lawmakers was trying to sell the legislation to the American public, she conveniently didn’t let them know she also has rental property.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-MI) 2021 financial disclosure shows she received between $15,000 and $50,000 in rental-property income throughout 2020. The property, located in Detroit, is worth between $100,001 and $250,000. For 2019, the congresswoman disclosed the same income range for her rental property, which she purchased in the last quarter of 2018.
Tlaib has vocally supported the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act throughout the pandemic. The legislation would allow both tenants and landlords to forgo paying their rent and mortgage during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, she tweeted her support for the bill.
HAPPENING NOW: I'm joining Rep. @Ilhan Omar and fellow colleagues for a press conference on the Rent & Mortgage Cancellation Act. Our residents need help during this ongoing pandemic & this legislation seeks to provide that help to ensure our neighbors have the housing they need. https://t.co/RABr5VBpG4

Ironically, Tlaib is not the only Squad member to disclose rental income. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) filed her disclosure on August 13, and it shows $5,001-$15,000 of rental income for a property in Boston. She also claimed the same amount for 2019. Fox News reported that neither Pressley nor Tlaib is answering questions about whether they gave their tenants a break during the pandemic. Shocker.
