(UnitedVoice.com) – The Steele Dossier is arguably one of the most controversial topics in recent American history. It accused former President Donald Trump of numerous misdeeds, many of which have been debunked since it was leaked in 2017. Now, the FBI has arrested one of the people involved in creating the documents.
On Thursday, November 4, federal authorities arrested the primary researcher of the Steele Dossier, Russian Igor Danchenko. A federal grand jury returned an indictment in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia the day before. He’s charged with five counts of making false statements to the FBI.
According to a Justice Department statement, Danchenko made false statements on March 16, May 18, June 15, October 24, and November 16, 2017. He’s accused of lying about the sources relating to some information he gave a UK investigative firm that passed it on to the FBI. The statements included one accusing Russian officials and the Trump campaign of having an ongoing relationship wherein Russia tried to get the 45th president elected.
The indictment leaves one to wonder what other lies he told. As the primary researcher for the dossier, he was responsible for many of the allegations within it. Is this indictment the final nail in the coffins of those who spread the dossier as truth?
