(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden has repeatedly said he intends to run for a second term in office in 2024. However, he has stopped short of actually declaring his re-election campaign. At a recent White House event, Al Roker tried to find out when that might happen, and Biden’s response led to him being the butt of a joke made by a liberal comedian.
During the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 10, Roker had an opportunity to speak to President and First Lady Biden. During his conversation, he asked the commander-in-chief how many of the events he intended to participate in after the 2024 election.
Biden stumbled over his response to Roker and said he hopes to participate in “at least three or four more” of the events. Then he added, “Maybe five… Maybe six.” The NBC News host then asked the president whether he was going to take part in the 2024 election. Biden joked that he would either be “rolling an egg” or he would be “pushing ‘em out.”
The interaction between the two amused Stephen Colbert. The “Late Show” host put aviator glasses on and started mocking Biden on his show. He joked that the president can “lay eggs” or he could serve them scrambled, sit on them and “raise a beautiful flock of little baby Joes.” He then said he was “mentally fit” enough to run for president again.
Colbert jokes about whether Biden is 'mentally fit' to run for president again after Easter egg gaffe:
'That’s right, Jack! I got big Easter news: Joe Biden can lay eggs, https://t.co/5ScNh6zZfK #FoxNews— Hakkı Öcal 🇹🇷 (@hakkiocal) April 12, 2023
Colbert’s joke about the president’s mental fitness is common among comedians and critics who are insulting the 80-year-old. There has been a lot of chatter about whether he is fit for office. Despite the rumors and questions, Dr. Kevin C. O’Connor, the president’s doctor, has said he is “fit to successfully execute the duties” of his office, according to The New York Times.
Biden is currently the oldest serving president of the US. If he runs again, he will be 81 years old when he takes the Oath of Office.
