Tim Scott Announces Presidential Run

(UnitedVoice.com) – The Republican primary field is filling up with candidates. Former President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner in the presidential primary, but several Conservatives hope to unseat him from his throne. One of those is none other than South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.

On Monday, May 22, Scott officially launched his bid for the White House. The lawmaker is selling himself to the American people as the candidate focused on “freedom and hope and opportunity.” In a campaign video shared on his Twitter account, he said that he’s “living proof that America is the land of opportunity.” The senator introduced himself to voters who might not know him, telling them how his single mother raised him in poverty. Despite their financial state, his mom taught him to have “stubborn faith” in himself, God, and America.

Scott said his rise from poverty to presidential candidate happened because his family “chose patriotism over pity and to be victors, not victims.”

During his official campaign launch at his alma mater Charleston Southern University, Scott slammed several of President Joe Biden’s policies. He claimed the president wants to force “waitresses and mechanics” to foot the bill for student loan debt belonging to doctors and lawyers. The senator also slammed the administration for the low labor participation rate for young men.

Scott made a name for himself over the last few years for battling Democrats. He has served in the House and Senate, winning his current seat in 2014. The senator represented the Republican Party in negotiations over police reform but refused to allow the Left to put the most extreme measures into a bill, like doing away with qualified immunity.

Though the senator is an ambitious candidate with a proven conservative track record, he faces an uphill battle for the Republican nomination. According to FiveThirtyEight, Scott is polling at an average of 1%.
