Trump Fundraises Off of Mugshot T-Shirt

(UnitedVoice.com) – Former President Donald Trump was arraigned in a Manhattan courtroom on April 4. Prior to the hearing, he was arrested and charged with 34 felonies. His popularity has not waned in the days since the indictment against him was announced, and his team is doing something rather unique to fundraise.

When Trump was arrested on Tuesday, officials reportedly didn’t take a mugshot. That didn’t stop his campaign from plastering a fake one on T-shirts and selling them to supporters. The shirt features a black-and-white shot of his face with his name and the date of his arrest on it. It also has the numbers “45-47” on it, signifying he was the 45th POTUS and hopes to become the 47th as well.

Supporters who want to buy the shirt can do so for $36.

The charges against the former president are all related to alleged “catch and kill” schemes in the months before the 2016 election. Prosecutors allege Trump committed felonies by reimbursing payments to people who might have hurt him politically. District Attorney Alvin Bragg claims he illegally falsified business records to conceal the payments. For example, ex-adult film star Stormy Daniels was paid $130,000 not to reveal allegations that she had an affair with Trump while he was married to Melania Trump in the early 2000s.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him during the arraignment. He maintains the allegations are nothing more than a continuation of the so-called political witch hunt that led to him being impeached two times while in office. Since the news of the indictment broke, people have donated millions of dollars to his presidential campaign.

The former president’s ex-attorney Michael Cohen is allegedly one of the lead witnesses against him. He has already served time in prison for federal campaign law violations that were related to the Daniels payment.
