(UnitedVoice.com) – Tensions between the US and Iran continue to grow even in the midst of the global pandemic. Last week, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) vessels circled and harassed US Navy warships conducting training on international waters in the Persian Gulf.
The Navy’s 5th Fleet reported, on several occasions, IRGCN vessels came dangerously close to US warships, approaching at very high speeds, increasing the risk of “miscalculation and collision.”

President Trump tweeted Wednesday, stating he granted the US Navy permission to escalate the “use of force” and “shoot down” any Iranian gunboat continuing to show hostile intent.
I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea.

Back in December 2019, the US blamed Iran for carrying out an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq. We followed up with an airstrike, killing Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. And just this month, Trump warned Iran against a “sneak attack” on US troops in Iraq.
Even in the midst of a deadly pandemic, Trump has vowed to protect the American people and remain vigilant against threats both foreign and domestic.
