(UnitedVoice.com) – On Tuesday, President Trump signed new legislation into law, giving permanent backing to the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) will also help public lands and national parks.
President Trump just signed the Great American Outdoors Act into law. The GAOA will protect our country's natural treasures and promote recreation and conservation for generations — thanks to the strong leadership of @SenCoryGardner and @SteveDaines. pic.twitter.com/bpicVZ891j

Before signing the bill, Trump blamed Congress for not adequately funding the conservation over the past 50 years, causing a significant backlog in maintenance needs for parks and public lands. Many buildings and roads are in critical need of repair. The GAOA takes some big steps to fix that.
The Trump administration pushed hard for this new law. Even the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump joined in the effort to get this legislation passed. In a rare show of bipartisanship, the Democrats were on board with it, too.

Trump celebrated that the nation’s “historic treasures” would be preserved. He said from the standpoint of both the environment and the country’s beauty, the US hasn’t seen anything like this “since Teddy Roosevelt.” This is definitely a win for the president.
