Ukrainian Navy Wins Pivotal Victory Over Russian Navy

(UnitedVoice.com) – The Ukrainian navy says it’s won a battle against its Russian enemy in the Black Sea. The victory could be a huge boost to Ukrainian morale because if the reports are true, they’ve sunk one of the warships that attacked Snake Island in the first hours of the Russian invasion.

On February 24, the 13 Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island, a 42-acre rock in the Black Sea, became famous round the world when the Russian patrol boat Vasily Bykov ordered them to surrender – and got the immortal reply, “Russian warship, go f**k yourself!” At first, it was believed all 13 died in the bombardment that followed from the Bykov and the missile cruiser Moskva, but days later, it was revealed they’d been captured by the Russians.

Early in the morning of March 7, Vasily Bykov approached the Ukrainian port city of Odessa, but this time it met more than strong language. Dramatic video shows a multiple rocket launch system hurling a stream of missiles out to sea, ending with a Ukrainian voice saying “We got the warship. It’s on fire!” The 1,700-ton ship tried to escape to sea, but later that day the Ukrainian navy reported that it had sunk.
