US Lawmaker Taking Action Against China

(UnitedVoice.com) – America has had a lot of problems with China over the last several years, but the country’s theft of intellectual property has been one of the most persistent issues. One Republican representative hopes to finally put an end to that.

On May 4, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) reintroduced HR 8831, a bill that aims to deny export privileges to countries that steal intellectual property from Americans. The congressman explained the Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property has estimated the crime costs the US economy $600 billion annually. And, to nobody’s surprise, China is the biggest perpetrator of the theft. Additionally, he said 80% of all economic espionage cases involve the Communist country.

The Chinese also allegedly steal from allied nations.

Buck released a statement saying the Chinese have a “long history of intellectual property theft” that costs the US billions. The nation is actively harming our country and it’s time to put an end to it.
