US Senator Attacked in Broad Daylight
(UnitedVoice.com) – Politics is often a hot-button topic that can spark intense debate and feelings, particularly for those on opposite sides of the aisle. However, it seems that lately, an increasing number of people have taken to violence to make their points. One senator was recently the subject of such an attack.
On November 7, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was riding on a float in a victory parade celebrating the Houston Astro’s World Series win when a beer can came flying at him. The person in front of him tried to deflect it, but the can struck Cruz near the neck and chest area. Cruz’s daughters were standing next to him on the float when the incident happened. Fortunately, nothing hit them.

Houston Police took the suspect who allegedly threw the cans — which were unopened — into custody without incident and later identified him as 33-year-old Joseph Halm Arcidiacono.
HPD made one arrest during today’s victory parade. A male, 33, threw a beer can at U.S. Senator Ted Cruz as the Senator was on a float in the 2400 block of Smith St. The beer can struck the Senator in the chest/neck area. The Senator did not require medical attention.

Speaking to the Daily Wire, Cruz thanked the police department for its quick response and said he was “thankful that the clown who threw his White Claw had a noodle for an arm.”
Prosecutors have since charged Arcidiacono with aggravated assault. He posted a $40,000 bond and gained release from jail while awaiting his next court appearance on Wednesday, November 9.
