Vladimir Putin Reportedly Only Interested in Seizing Land, No More Negotiations

Putin Just Changed His Most Important Tactic

(UnitedVoice.com) – The Russian war on Ukraine has passed the two-month mark and isn’t showing signs of ending any time soon. Peace negotiations between the countries have stalled since Ukraine accused President Vladimir Putin’s military of committing war crimes. A new report indicates Russia might not want to start the negotiations again.

The Financial Times (FT) reported Putin has no interest in ending the war through diplomatic talks anymore. Instead, journalists Henry Foy and Max Seddon say the Russian leader appears to want to seize as much land as he can from Ukraine. An unnamed source reportedly briefed on talks with Putin says he believes the propaganda he’s seeing in state media and now he wants to win big.

The report indicates it wasn’t just the war crimes allegations that set Putin off. He was furious when the flagship of his Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, was hit by Ukrainian missiles and sank. The Ukrainian military was able to take out his top naval ship without a navy of its own. After the incident, the source told the FT that “Putin was against signing anything” because the loss of the vessel was humiliating.

For his part, Zelenskyy told reporters he wants to meet with Putin personally to settle the dispute. If the FT report is true, that won’t be happening in the immediate future.
