Walmart LAWSUIT Shocker – Giant Payout Ordered!
(UnitedVoice.com) – When an Oregon man went to his local Walmart to buy a lightbulb, he didn’t expect to be the subject of racial discrimination and harassment. Unfortunately for Michael Mangum, that’s exactly what happened. Still, the 61-year-old black man got his day in court and justice in the form of a boatload of cash.
On August 19, a Multnomah County grand jury handed down a verdict in Mangum’s favor, ordering Walmart to pay $4.4 million in damages. Jurors found the company willfully discriminated against the plaintiff through employees’ and management’s actions.

According to the suit, an employee who had a history of lying about customers “spied” on Mangum, following him through the store. When confronted, the worker became immediately combative, threatening to lie about the situation. He said he would claim the bewildered customer threatened to “smash him in the face.” He then ordered Mangum to leave and escalated the matter to store management, private security, and, ultimately, local police.
The police took no action and informed the store that the employee had given false statements in the past. Walmart retained the unnamed subject as an employee for months after the incident. The decision to back the worker cost them.
