(UnitedVoice.com) – Inconsistency and hypocrisy are the staples of today’s Democratic Party. What other conclusion can one make? Riots are justifiable so long as they aren’t against the Capitol, and one Democrat can consistently call for violence, and no one else in the party seems overly concerned. In fact, Democrats defend these actions.
On Saturday night, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) did it again. It’s a pattern that goes back to the 1980s. She called for protestors and rioters to “get more active; we’ve got to get more confrontational. We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.” Isn’t that the same kind of rhetoric for which Democrats repeatedly called out former President Trump? Is this worse than the behavior which supposedly prompted the impeachment trial against Trump in January when the Democrats tried — falsely — to claim that Trump incited a mob riot at the Capitol?
No matter, the real issue now is, where are the Democrats? Why hasn’t a single one called Waters out for reckless rhetoric?
Irresponsible Rhetoric Comes with Consequences
Waters’ irresponsible rhetoric is putting a lot of people at risk. Small businesses could face looting and destruction of property. What about a person’s safety and well-being? Civil society is dependent upon people behaving with dignity and respect. When that’s lost, so are people’s comfort levels, livelihoods, safety, and the social structure that holds a society together.
Waters compromised the promise of the US Constitution. Did she violate her oath to protect it? If you can’t scream fire in a movie theater, how is this any different? In fact, could it be worse?
In the interim, Waters and social justice activists were on the streets violating a curfew on Saturday night. Her words and actions may compromise the Derek Chauvin trial. After closing arguments on Monday, defense attorneys used Waters’ words to demonstrate that the trial is unfair and tainted. Judge Peter Cahill denied the request to declare a mistrial. However, he also said Waters’ statement risked the “whole trial being overturned.”
Where Are Democrats?
Not one Democrat spoke out publicly against Waters. It’s a show of repeated hypocrisy. In fact, it’s worse. Waters brushed off the criticism, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended the radical Congresswoman. It appears that comments are only reckless when they come from a Republican.
Consider, Republicans kicked Rep. Steve King (R-IA) off of committees and lost re-election after questioning white nationalism and white supremacy in 2019. Anti-Trumpers Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), and Mitt Romney (R-UT) regularly took opportunities to call out Trump. Whether right or wrong, they willingly broke with party leadership.
Where’s that backbone in the Democratic Party?
It doesn’t exist. They close ranks, defend each other, and use the media to hide behind. What’s so reckless about this is that Democrats claim to be the party of social justice, but are they? Or, are they opportunists seeking political capital?
If they are really interested in helping people, they would lower the rhetoric and work peacefully to solve problems instead of continually trying to make new ones.
Unfortunately, they don’t believe that benefits them.
Get ready for another summer of more animosity driven by the left.
