(UnitedVoice.com) – In the latest reaction to the coronavirus epidemic, the White House and Capitol announced they’re now closed to the public. Until the crisis is over, access will be restricted to the people who work there.
The White House Visitor’s Office announced Thursday morning all tours had been suspended. Normally the executive mansion receives about 6,000 visitors a day, and they’re free to wander through most of the historic building.
Hours later the Capitol, which had initially set up hand sanitizer dispensers for visitors in an attempt to stay open, announced that it would be closing to non-official visitors too. The closure came into effect at 5 pm Thursday.
