(UnitedVoice.com) – One of the major roles of the World Health Organization (WHO) is to ensure the highest level of health for billions of people around the world.
To keep the organization running, the US contributes more than $400 million per year of its $4.8 billion dollar budget. This makes us the largest donor of any other country.
While you’d think this is a good thing, not everyone feels the money the US contributes is being put to use properly. On Tuesday evening, President Trump announced he’ll halt funding to the WHO for failing to investigate China’s accuracy in reporting on the coronavirus outbreak.

Trump and members of the coronavirus task force agree the WHO consistently and repeatedly reported misinformation from China, affecting how the US would respond to the pandemic.
President told reporters during yesterday’s task force briefing he felt the WHO failed in its duty and the organization must be held accountable for its actions and inactions.
He also accused the WHO of ignoring “credible information” presented back in December regarding the virus’s ability to spread from human to human.
Trump also argued China only offers about $40 million in contributions to the WHO unlike the estimated $400 to $500 million by the US. He further said the money saved will go to areas that need it most.
This truly proves that Trump has America’s best interests at heart.
