American Muslim Leaders Launch Campaign to Dethrone Biden

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden and the Muslim-American community have had a good relationship in the past. The Israeli war on Hamas has changed the dynamic. Biden has made the US position clear: America supports Israel unconditionally.

Biden’s stance has put him at odds with the Arabic community. Now, there’s a movement to oust him.

#AbandonBiden

On December 2, Muslim leaders gathered in Dearborn, Michigan. The leaders came from Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. They are calling the campaign #AbandonBiden, and their goal is to kill his chances of reelection in 2024.

According to POLITICO, the Muslim leaders have all been running campaigns in their respective states. However, they decided that it was time for them to coordinate their strategy against Biden in the wake of the continued bombing campaign by Israel. Approximately 15,000 people are dead in Gaza, many of whom are women and children.

During a press conference, Hassan Abdel Salam, a member of the #AbandonBiden National Coalition and University of Minnesota professor, said the group is looking into ways to “build a mechanism of coordination between all the swing states […] and that Mr. Biden will lose each and every one of them.”

CAIR-MINNESOTA Director Jaylani Hussein, who is also a member of the coalition, said they wanted to show Muslim Americans are “powerful” and have both money and votes.

Could They Sink Biden?

In 2020, Biden won the election by just under 43,000 votes in three swing states that gave him the Electoral College votes he needed. There are approximately 3.45 million Muslims in America. About 59% of them voted for Biden in 2020. It’s not clear how many Arabic voters are souring toward Biden, but even 10% could do a significant amount of damage to his campaign.

Hussein said Biden is a “dangerous president for Americans.” He asked the American people if they wanted their sons to be sent overseas to get involved in another war that won’t end. He said the majority of Americans “agree with [them] that a ceasefire and bringing peace is the right action.”

However, Hussein made it clear that they won’t be voting for former President Donald Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee. He said they have “many options.”

The news about the opposition to the president comes at a time when his favorability rating continues to sink. FiveThirtyEight’s polling average shows just 38% of the American people support him. His disapproval rating is a whopping 55.2%.

Biden has just under a year to bring his approval rating up to try to win the election.
