Biden Uses Tragedy to Double Down on Attacking Second Amendment

(UnitedVoice.com) – Democrats are often accused of exploiting tragedies for political reasons. Shootings are one of their favorite. Every time there’s a mass shooting or a particularly bloody weekend in a Demcoratic-run city, people on the Left get on their soap boxes and rant about gun control. It has happened after every major shooting.

President Joe Biden recently did the same thing after shootings near Chicago took the lives of seven family members and another man. The shooter killed himself states away after being confronted by law enforcement officers. The POTUS used the tragedy to push for more gun control.

Horrific Shootings

On January 21, 23-year-old Romeo Nance allegedly drove by a 42-year-old man in Joliet, Illinois, and opened fire. The man was shot in the leg, but survived. Around the same time, the Will County Sheriff’s Office was responding to another call about a man lying on the ground, bleeding from his head. Authorities identified him as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare. He died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Law enforcement used surveillance video to identify a vehicle belonging to Nance. The next day, they approached his last known address. When deputies got to the door, they noticed gunshots and blood. When they entered the home, they found his uncle, 35-year-old William Esters II, and mother, 47-year-old Tameka Nance, dead.

On the same block was another home that authorities identified as being connected to the family. When they entered the house, they found a horrific scene. The bodies of Nance’s 16-year-old and 14-year-old sisters (whose names have not been released) and another sister, 20-year-old Alexandria Nance, were in the house. His bedridden brother, 31-year-old Joshua Nance was dead as well, and so was his aunt, 38-year-old Christine Esters. The latter was a correctional officer at Joliet’s Treatment Center.

US Marshals found Nance in Texas later that night but he shot himself before they could take him into custody.

Biden Exploits Tragedy

On January 24, President Biden issued a statement saying he and the first lady were praying for the loved ones of the eight victims in Illinois. He said the “tragedy underscores” why he has been doing everything he can to “keep guns off our streets.”

Biden went on to say his administration is using the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to strengthen background checks and fight gun trafficking. He demanded Congress pass a national red flag law, which can strip guns from citizens, and pass universal background checks.

The president’s statement once again proved that he will continue chipping away at gun laws for as long as he’s in office.
