Congressman Slams Biden’s ‘Pattern of Abandonment’

(UnitedVoice.com) – When President Joe Biden ordered the withdrawal of American troops and personnel from Afghanistan in 2021, the operation devolved into chaos. Afghans, desperate to leave, tried to hitch rides on the wings of planes, only to die as they tried to flee. Thirteen American service members died when terrorists launched an attack.

American citizens became stranded in Afghanistan. Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) was part of an operation to recover them. Years later, he helped rescue more US citizens from Israel. Most recently, he launched a mission to save people stranded in Haiti and spoke out about the Biden Administration.

Haitian Operation

Mills told Fox News Digital he was part of a team that rescued Americans from Haiti. He explained that the people they rescued were with the Have Faith Orphanage. The congressman said the rescue reiterated that “American lives are continually jeopardized” under Biden. Further, he said he has rescued Americans multiple times when the president “has deserted them.”

The Republican congressman said the president has exhibited “a clear pattern of abandonment.” He alleged the group from the Have Faith Orphanage was “left behind” by the State Department and the president.

Evacuation Orders

On July 27, 2023, the State Department ordered all non-essential personnel out of Haiti because of gang violence. The department also issued a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory to all Americans for travel to the country. The advisory ordered all Americans and their family members to “depart Haiti as soon as possible by commercial or other privately available transportation options.” Those who were still in Port-au-Prince, the nation’s capital, were told to monitor the news and only evacuate when they were safe.

Over the weekend ending on Sunday, March 10, US Southern Command sent military forces into Haiti to evacuate non-essential personnel who didn’t leave when they were told to last year. They were airlifted off the island, and a Marine unit was sent to provide more security for the US embassy, which remains open.

Haitian Situation

In 2021, Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in his home. A group of mercenaries were arrested for the murder. Since then, the country has devolved into chaos. Armed gangs have wreaked havoc on the island.

On March 12, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced he was resigning from his position as soon as a transitional team was put in place. He’d been locked out of the country after gang members took over the airport and refused to allow him to land. The gangs threatened a civil war if he refused to step down from his position.
