Ex-Obama Advisor Blasts Biden: “Terrible Mistake”

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden is running for reelection, but it’s not looking good for him. Former President Trump is whooping him in the national polls. The American people are sick of his poor job performance. And, now, even a former advisor to the 44th POTUS, Barack Obama, is going after him.

Terrible Mistake

David Axelrod was one of the most prominent figures in Obama’s first term. He served as the former president’s senior advisor and chief strategist for both of his winning campaigns. He knows a little something about what the American people want. Recently, he lashed out at Biden, whom he worked with in the White House.

On May 8, Axelrod, now a CNN political analyst, appeared on “Erin Burnett OutFront” to discuss the upcoming election. He went after Biden’s position on the economy and called it a “terrible mistake.” He was reacting to Burnett’s interview with Biden, where the president tried to brag about his economic record despite the fact that the American people have repeatedly told pollsters they believe he’s doing a bad job.

Biden defiantly told Burnett that his administration has “already turned it around” and claimed Americans have said they are “personally in good shape” economically. The president then claimed CNN has been polling people wrong and boasted, “We have the strongest economy in the world.”

Axelrod said it’s true that the world was in an economic crisis when Biden took office and the US has recovered more quickly, “but that’s not the way people are experiencing the economy.” He pointed out that American families are experiencing an increased cost of living and asked why the president isn’t leading “with empathy.”

The former Obama advisor said that if Biden doesn’t win in November, it might “not be Donald Trump that beats him, it may be his own pride.”

What Are Americans Saying?

Redfield & Wilton Strategies conducted a poll on behalf of Newsweek last month that found 50% of Americans think the economy is a problem. Only a quarter of respondents said they thought it was headed in the right direction. The poll also found that Americans are unhappy with their own financial situation. Forty-two percent of respondents said their finances have gotten worse over the last year.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll found inflation and economy were the most important issues for Americans headed into the election. Only 32% said they trust Biden to handle the economy, while 46% indicated they trust Trump.

Biden is still doing a victory dance. Go figure.
