GOP Senator Slams MTG

(UnitedVoice.com) – Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is taking a lot of heat from members of her party for her opposition to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA). The congresswoman has made it very clear that she wants him to resign from his position. A Republican US senator recently jumped into the fray.

On April 23, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) attacked Greene on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront.” The Republican lawmaker said, “She is a horrible leader,” referring to the Georgia congresswoman. He accused her of dragging the GOP brand down and called her the “biggest risk to [Republicans] getting back to a majority.”

The senator didn’t stop there. Tillis said, “I think she’s uninformed. She is a total waste of time.”

Greene has been attacking Johnson since March, when he negotiated with Democrats to keep the government funded. During that particular vote, she introduced a motion to vacate the speaker. Under the rules changed by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), any member can introduce such a measure and push for a vote. Ultimately, the rule change is how McCarthy became the first speaker to ever be ousted.

When Johnson worked with Democrats again to get the foreign aid package through the House, Greene lost it.

Over the last several weeks, Greene has accused Johnson of being a Democrat, betraying the country, said he was a “traitor to our country,” and lobbed other insults at him. The undeniably conservative leader has brushed the attacks off and chastised her for causing chaos within the GOP.

Although Greene has some support from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), the vast majority of the party, including former President Donald Trump, is not behind her. The presumptive Republican nominee has repeatedly told the GOP that he supports Johnson and thinks he’s doing a good job.

Greene has not told the American people who she has in mind to replace Johnson if he’s ousted.
