Hunter Biden Served Fresh Indictment Over Tax Crimes

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. During that period of time, he’s accused of committing gun and tax crimes. In September, the president’s son was charged with three felonies related to his purchase of a firearm. Now, a grand jury has indicted him for nine more offenses.

New Charges

On December 7, Special Counsel David C. Weiss, appointed by former President Donald Trump, announced a federal grand jury returned a nine-count indictment against the younger Biden filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

According to the grand jury’s indictment, Biden failed to pay at least $1.4 million in federal taxes that he owed for the tax years 2016 through 2019. Further, they found that he tried to evade taxes in 2018 by filing false tax returns.

The indictment also accuses Biden of spending millions of dollars on a lifestyle suited for the rich and famous, all while not paying his taxes. It states that he withdrew millions of dollars from his company and subverted the tax withholding process. He’s also accused of failing to pay the taxes despite having the money to pay some or all of what he owed.

Biden was indicted on four misdemeanor charges of failure to pay taxes, two misdemeanor charges of failure to file taxes, two felony counts of filing a false return, and one felony count of tax evasion.

If convicted, Biden is facing a maximum penalty of 17 years in prison.

Previous Charges

In September, Weiss announced a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging the president’s son with three felony firearm offenses. According to that indictment, Hunter Biden bought a Colt Cobra revolver from a licensed firearm dealer on October 12, 2018. When he bought the gun, he had to fill out ATF Form 4473. The form asks purchasers to certify that all of their responses were truthful, but the grand jury found there was evidence indicating he knowingly lied on the form.

The president’s son reportedly certified that he wasn’t addicted or an unlawful user of any controlled substance. There’s evidence that indicates he was an active drug user at the time of the purchase. Count two alleged Biden intentionally made a false statement to a federally licensed firearm dealer. Count three accused him of using drugs over the course of 11 days in October 2018 while in possession of the weapon.

Biden is facing a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison for those offenses if convicted.
