Lawmakers Son Arrested for Alleged Theft

(UnitedVoice.com) – Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) is a controversial figure in politics. She also has had a turbulent personal life over the last year. Her oldest son is now in trouble with the law.

The Rifle Police Department in Colorado arrested Tyler Boebert, 18, on February 27. The congresswoman’s son was reportedly identified by police officers who had previous encounters with him as the man in a surveillance video taken at a gas station. The footage showed Boebert with a group of minors as they used a stolen credit card. He was wearing a Shooter’s Bar and Grill hoodie. His parents previously owned the restaurant.

According to law enforcement, there were a series of car break-ins and thefts around town. The people in the video were accused of using the cards belonging to the victims. They are also accused of taking identification cards, at least one Social Security card, credit cards, and other items.

The alleged thieves used the cards at gas stations, online shopping sites, and McDonald’s.

Boebert is facing nearly two dozen charges, including felonies. He’s reportedly charged with criminal possession of identification documents and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Rep. Boebert responded to the arrest of her son in a statement, saying she loved her son but acknowledged he has been experiencing difficulties and has not gotten his life back on track. She said it doesn’t help that he has been the “subject of attention that he didn’t ask for” because of her position. The lawmaker said he should face the consequences of his actions.

Jayson Boebert, the congresswoman’s ex-husband, has been at the center of many of the teen’s problems. He’s been in repeated confrontations with him and was even arrested for allegedly assaulting his son. The congresswoman ended up getting a restraining order against her ex because of his erratic behavior. In a statement to the Daily Mail, the elder Boebert said he would stand by his son.
