Vicious Attack Leads to Indefinite Suspension

(UnitedVoice.com) – Draymond Green is one of the biggest stars in the NBA. He’s also known for being a hothead who doesn’t mind getting into dust-ups on the court. But recently, he went too far and got suspended.

On December 12, the Green’s team, the Golden State Warriors, faced off against the Phoenix Suns. During the game, Green was blocking Suns center Jusuf Nurkić when suddenly, he swung his arm, hitting Nurkić in the face. Nurkić fell to the ground and cradled his face in his hands. The officials reviewed the video of the incident and ejected Green from the game.

After the game, Green apologized to Nurkić for the hit. He said that he “didn’t intend to hit him.”

The next day, the NBA announced it was suspending Green. The Athletic reported NBA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars, who also serves as the head of basketball operations, issued a statement saying Green has a “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” and that factored into the league’s decision.

The suspension is indefinite, and the NBA will require Green to “meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play.” Green, a four-time champion, is expected to miss at least three weeks. It’s his second suspension of the season. His first came after he put Ruby Gobert, a center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, in a chokehold.

Green reportedly already started counseling. However, the league is not revealing what type of counseling he is receiving.

In 2022, Green violently attacked Jordan Poole, one of his teammates, during practice. Video of the attack spread across the internet like wildfire. It showed the two players trash-talking one another, then Green walked up to Poole and got into his face. Poole then shoved Green away, and Green responded by punching his teammate in the face, and knocking him on the ground. Green was fined for the incident.
