Truckers Rally Behind Former President, Float Boycott of NYC

(UnitedVoice.com) – The civil business fraud trial against former President Donald Trump came to an end in mid-January. Judge Arthur Engoron presided over the case and had previously ruled that Trump was liable. It was just a question of how much. The former president received his judgment on Friday, February 16. He was ordered to pay more than $350 million and was barred from doing business in the city for three years. After the judgment was handed down, a group of truckers rallied behind him and threatened to boycott the city.

One trucker in particular, who is known by the name of “Chicago Ray,” posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, calling for the boycott of deliveries to The Big Apple in support of the former president. He told New Yorkers to “start stocking up” because there were “millions of Truckers for Trump,” indicating that there would be shortages of goods in the city.

The clip went viral and was shared to TikTok, where the man’s grandson apparently came across it, according to Fox News. That led to Ray taking it down, but someone downloaded the video before it was removed, so it’s still making the rounds.

Ray then posted on X again, this time backing away from his initial sentiment, telling people that he’s “no figurehead of any movement” and isn’t “encouraging anyone to do anything other than what they were doing prior to the ruling.” He did, however, say that he stands firmly behind Trump and encouraged others to do so as well.

If it were a real threat that truckers were to stop delivering goods to New York City, it wouldn’t severely impact the city’s economy unless all trucks stopped. A few would inconvenience retailers and stores or restaurants that count on those deliveries, but there are always other drivers willing to step up and other methods available. At the most, some businesses might be mildly inconvenienced.
